Plenet legal empowerment conference 2010
Plenet's second legal empowerment conference was held on 10th February. Highlights included the Justice Minister's continued support for PLE and performances by Theatre ADAD giving delegates a taste of PLE in action. A range of workshops on aspects of PLE and a panel discussion on how PLE advances a culture of civil and social justice followed. Find out more...

Empowering young people through legal capability conference
Plenet joined the Independent Academic Research Studies (IARS) on October 2009 to launch new research into young peoples' legal capabilities. Basic levels of legal capability are vital to improving the lives of the most marginalised young people. The research revealed that issues such as literacy, skills, trust and confidence and locality needed to be addressed. Find out more...
Public legal education in Scotland conference
The first conference on public legal education in Scotland took place in Edinburgh in March 2009. The conference marked what was hoped would be significant initiatives in the future. Plenet legal empowerment conference 2009
Plenet's first legal empowerment conference, 'Public legal education: Improving lives, empowering communities' took place in February 2009. A wide range of topics were discussed including young people's needs; the challenges of working with marginalised groups; the need to improve legal capability in the adult population, pro bono work by law schools and the principles and practice of PLE evaluation.

Developing capable citizens conference
Plenet and the Civil Justice Council organised this conference in Cardiff during National Pro Bono week in November 2008 to help develop a better understanding of the notion of legal capability. Delegates discussed the development of citizenship education and the need for continued learning. Find out more...
